Suspicious vehicle call turned out to be alleged drunk driver who left crash scene… [HN PHOTOS]

CENTERVILLE – Shortly before 1:00 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Patrol Officers were dispatched to Main Street in the vicinity of the general store for a suspicious vehicle. The caller was reportedly concerned about a woman who appeared to be passed out behind the wheel.
Officers located the vehicle in question on Old Stage Road near the intersection with Pine Tree Drive. The vehicle had significant damage to the right front quarter panel and upon further investigation, officers discovered a damaged tree that appeared to be the crash scene tree on Phinney’s Lane, across from Mother’s Park. It appears the vehicle just barely avoided going head-on with the tree, glancing off of it before continuing on…
Prior to HN’s arrival, the driver, described as a female in her 30s, was already in custody for suspicion of Operating Under the Influence. The suspect was also charged with Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and leaving the scene…
