Three people hurt after head-on crash closes Rte. 28 in Cotuit… [HN VIDEO]
COTUIT – Three people were hurt and transported to the hospital after a head-on crash right near the Barnstable/Mashpee town line last evening…
The crash happened just before midnight on Route 28 right in the area of The Barn store.
Crews used the jaws of life on one vehicle that had two female patients, both conscious and alert during extrication…
The second vehicle had a male driver who appeared to have some type of leg injury. He was also conscious and alert…
Both vehicles, a Range Rover SUV and a 4 door sedan, had heavy front end damage and needed to be hauled away on flatbeds.
Crews responded from both the Cotuit and Mashpee fire departments.
Mashpee police also responded to assist in closing down Route 28 in both directions.
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the crash. A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to take photos.
According to police radio transmissions, the investigating Barnstable Police Officer requested an arrest number for criminal charges after following up with the patients at Cape Cod Hospital. HN will provide official updates as they become available.
UPDATE: According to a report in the Cape Cod Times, Thomas Dickerson, age 36, of Hyannis, will be charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Operating to Endanger, and Marked Lanes Violation…
