UPDATE FROM STATE POLICE MEDIA RELATIONS – 1/25/25 – 11PM:
The victim is 36 years old, not 26 as previously noted in an earlier MSP press statement.
STATE POLICE UPDATE – 1/25/25:
There was a second car involved in the crash that was not included in the preliminary notes […] The second car was operated by a woman in her late 20s who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a local hospital.
The decedent is identified as Mr. Adam Plaice, [36], of Brewster. We offer our condolences to his family and loved ones.
Initial Massachusetts State Police Media Statement – January 2025:
Shortly before midnight on Friday, State Police received reports of a wrong way driver on Route 3 south in Plymouth. A Trooper on patrol advised his Command of a single-car crash at mile marker 9.2 that appeared to be related. All southbound lanes closed in the aftermath of the crash.
MassDOT officials and State Police members assigned to the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Crime Scene Services Section responded to the scene. Plymouth Police provided invaluable assistance in closing Route 3 and diverting traffic until the road reopened at approximately 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
The operator and sole occupant of the wrong way vehicle sustained serious injuries. Officials transported [him] to a [Plymouth] hospital where [he was] pronounced dead. [His] identity is being withheld at this time until appropriate notifications can be made. We offer our condolences to [his] family and loved ones.
The matter remains under investigation by the State Police.
