HN NOTES FROM THE OVERNIGHT
1. POLICE PUZZLED BY GUNSHOT VICTIM DISCOVERED ON ROUTE 6 EXIT RAMP
WEST YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – [DEVELOPING] – Yarmouth Police and Firefighters responded to Willow Street shortly before midnight last evening for a report of man with a gunshot wound. According to Yarmouth Police sources, a motorist discovered a man on one of the ramps to Route 6 suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm. The motorist began driving the injured male to Cape Cod Hospital. While en route to CCH, a phone call was made to police. Police instructed the Good Samaritan to pull over on Willow Street in the area of Eversource, where police and EMTs began providing first aid to the patient. The patient was immediately transported to CCH in an ambulance as police began investigating what happened. The patient’s gunshot wound to his arm was not believed to be life-threatening, sources say. Massachusetts State Troopers were immediately alerted because the shooting could have possibly happened somewhere on Route 6. Meanwhile, investigating officers were having a difficult time gathering information from the patient because of a “language barrier.” Officers began checking Route 6, Willow Street (see above HN photo), and other Yarmouth locations for possible leads and evidence related to the shooting. Officers were also on the lookout for a potential suspect vehicle, but details regarding what actually happened and where the shooting actually occurred remain unclear at the time of this report…
Deputy Chief Andrew O’Malley spoke with HN at Yarmouth Police Headquarters early this morning. He described a puzzling investigation that remains very much active and ongoing at the time of this report. [DEVELOPING – HN will provide official updates as they become available…]

HARWICH, MASSACHUSETTS – [DEVELOPING] – At around 8:14 p.m. last evening, state troopers and Harwich Firefighters responded to Route 6 eastbound in the vicinity of Exit 82 for a report of someone suffering spinal and head injuries after they allegedly “fell out of a car.” First responders found a man suffering life-threatening injuries in the middle of the highway.
