Trapped 60-year-old woman rescued using Jaws of Life… [Rescue footage from start to finish…]
Hyannis Rescue saved a trapped woman tonight!
Hyannis – Just after 6pm, Hyannis Rescue and Barnstable Police rushed to a serious rollover/ two-car accident at the intersection of South Street and High School Road.
A Ford Ranger and an Acura crashed, sending the Ranger pickup through a fence, into a tree, and onto its side…
Rescue workers had to prop up the unstable rolled over Ford Ranger with support devices to prevent it from going further onto its roof…
A 60-year-old woman was seriously injured and trapped inside the vehicle…
Rescue workers broke glass, and one first responder actually entered the cab area carrying a neck brace… to shelter and stabilize the patient…
The Jaws of Life were used to cut the roof off the vehicle…
The woman was fit with an oxygen mask as she was carefully extracted onto a backboard, then onto a stretcher. Rescue notified doctors of an incoming trauma patient as they were transporting to CCH…
Initial reports say that her injuries were serious but she will survive…
According to Captain Rex with the Hyannis Fire Department, the woman was stable when transported, with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
She will likely have to endure a painful night of X-rays and CAT scans…
… but the important thing is that at this time it appears she will pull through.
Two others were transported to CCH with less serious injuries…
It’s also important to note that Hyannis Fire & Rescue workers were on scene very quickly, having been just two blocks away. A commanding firefighter took control of the scene, ordering rescue workers to first make sure the vehicle was stable and would not roll further onto its roof…
Overall it was an amazing job by Hyannis Fire & Rescue!
