[Above photo: Police investigate discarded evidence along Old Colony Road…]
Hyannis – Earlier tonight a man returned home on Marsh Lane and discovered that he had just been burglarized…
Barnstable Patrolman Mark McWilliams responded and began the search…
Barnstable K-9 Officer Troy Perry and Lieutenant Micheal Clark also responded to the scene.
While searching Old Colony Road and Nantucket Street, just several blocks from the scene of the B&E, Lieutenant Clark observed a suspicious male.
The 42-year-old male was obviously intoxicated. Clark also observed the man’s pants were wet from the knees down, as if he had just been wondering around the nearby woods and marshland…
The suspicious male was taken into Protective Custody for being drunk; meanwhile another officer radioed the suspect in question had previously been involved in a number of other past B&Es…
While being booked in at Barnstable Police Headquarters, officers discovered the suspect had been hiding stolen property from the home on Marsh Lane in his pockets…
Police are withholding the suspect’s name for the time being… but he is being charged with Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime with Intent to Commit a Felony…
… he’s also being charged with Felony Larceny Over $250.
So far police have recovered mostly stolen jewelry and personal items…

A search of the area and the Old Colony roadside produced other stolen items believed to have been discarded by the thief as he walked away from the scene….

Disturbance between street urchins…
Hyannis – At approximately 1:30pm, Barnstable Police responded to a disturbance involving two young men in front of the Hyannis Library.
Both were given a ten minute timeout alone in the back of a squad car, while police ran warrant checks and tried to get to heart of the matter…

The brief timeout gave both yutes time for reflection as officers advised them on the proper way to behave in and around the public library…
Neither was wanted by the courts or police at this time…

Word of advice to drama prone HyTown Yutes:
The next time you’re hot under the collar, instead of resorting to fisticuffs, ask yourself “What would Jack do?”

That’s right, it couldn’t hurt…
Jack, I’m sure, would play it cool and simply walk away.
