HN VIDEO: Entire family neighborhood shut down after man discharges firearm, then flees…
HYANNIS – As you will see in the following HN Video, an entire Hyannis neighborhood was closed down last evening after a man reportedly discharged a firearm… and then fled!
At about 6:25PM, Barnstable squad cars rushed to the area of 19 General Patton Drive to secure and investigate a reported shooting scene.
HN was told nobody was hit… and did not observe any medics at the scene.
General Patton Drive is a densely populated family neighborhood. Families returning home last evening were highly alarmed and perhaps frustrated when they were unable to enter General Patton Drive. Police did their best under the circumstances, reassuring people by telling them they were working as quickly as possible to reopen the one and only street that could take them back home, in some cases to loved ones who were wondering where they were…
A man was taken into custody at the scene and transported back to Barnstable Police Headquarters.
A delivery driver caught up in the wait had an order of fast food that now would have to wait as well. He eventually decided it best to turn around and make other deliveries in the meantime…
