HN VIDEO: Fatal motorcycle crash into car… victim still in roadway while accident reconstruction experts document the scene… [UPDATED]
UPDATE – ACTUAL YPD STATEMENT – July 11, 2018:
YARMOUTH POLICE CONTINUE FATAL CRASH INVESTIGATION
On Tuesday July 10, 2018 at approximately 4:12PM, the Yarmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to a 911 report of a crash involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle in the area of Buck Island Road and Townbrook Road in West Yarmouth.
Yarmouth Police Officers arrived on scene and immediately secured the area and diverted the heavy summertime traffic.
Tragically, a male operator of a motorcycle was found deceased at the scene.
The operator of the motor vehicle was cooperative and was interviewed at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Greg E. Straughn, age 68, of Brewster was operating a gray 2004 Yamaha XVS motorcycle eastbound on Buck Island Road.
Daniel M. Buckley, age 68, of Yarmouth was operating a black 2010 Dodge Avenger northbound on Townbrook Road.
The preliminary reports indicate that Mr. Buckley stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded straight across when the collision occurred.
Yarmouth Police Officers are continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Yarmouth Police Detective Division, the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team, The Massachusetts State Police, and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
Results of the completed investigation will be released at a future date.
The 100 men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department as well as the Citizens of Yarmouth extend our deepest sympathies to the Straughn family and their friends.

At about 4:00 PM, the motorcycle was reportedly driving east on Buck Island Road when it collided with a single vehicle at the intersection with Town Brook Road.
HN NOTE: As you will see in the HN Video, Yarmouth Police deployed their drone to help reconstruct and document the scene.
