FLEEING DRIVER IN CUSTODY AFTER TRYING TO TUCK CAR DOWN DARK DIRT PATH, COPS SAY [HN VIDEO]
ABOVE: A Barnstable Police patrolman diligently inventories the contents of a vehicle about to be towed. The vehicle was allegedly just involved in a brief pursuit with officers in the area of Main Street, Centerville.
CENTERVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS – As you will hear in the following HN “video,” a Barnstable Police patrolman suddenly came over the radio announcing he was in pursuit of a vehicle in the area of Main Street. He had initially attempted to stop the sedan for allegedly driving excessive speeds. The vehicle did not pull over and led officers on a brief pursuit, according to radio transmissions. The vehicle had been last seen driving down Park Ave, which is a dead end. As you will hear, an officer eventually located the suspect vehicle tucked into a dirt path at the end of Park Ave. The alleged driver was taken into custody moments later, according to radio transmissions.
The driver was under arrest and already on his way to Barnstable Police Headquarters when HN arrived on Park Ave. HN was able to learn that the driver was a 26-year-old male from Cotuit. He is reportedly being charged with Failure to Stop for Police, Speeding, Operating an unregistered/ uninsured motor vehicle, and reckless driving. No further details were available at the time of this report.
