FOUR SUSPECTED IN ARMED ROBBERY: Three in custody… man with handgun still at large… [ARREST VIDEO]
HN NOTE: This is the third separate HyTown Armed Robbery in less than a week…
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – HN was on scene when they arrested one of the suspects and she didn’t go peacefully…
As you will see and hear in the following video, police responded to 800 Bearses Way last evening at about 10:05PM, shortly after a male victim walked into the lobby at Barnstable Police Headquarters reporting he had just been robbed.
A gun was reportedly brandished during the robbery and police quickly began searching Cape Crossroads Condos and Cromwell Court Apartments for suspects.
Just over an hour later, police responded to a separate report of a large fight at the Hyannis Host Inn on Route 132 in Hyannis. Police arrived and called rescue for a patient who had facial injuries….
While investigating the fight, and as you’ll see in the video, police took down Nina Cortez, one of the four armed robbery suspects…
… two other suspects were also arrested in the area of the Hyannis Host Inn.
Nina Cortez, age 29, was charged with Armed Robbery. She also picked up other charges during her arrest and booking process, including Disorderly Conduct, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Shod Foot (when she allegedly kicked one of the police officers…).
Alyssa Balon, age 20, of Hyannis, was charged with Armed Robbery… [UPDATE – RECEIVED 6/27/2018 – NOTE: According to the BPD at the time of the initial report, Alyssa Balon was to be charged with the Armed Robbery. But according to court documents sent in by the defendant, Balon pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of Larceny Under $250 on 4/5/2017. (NOT Armed Robbery.) She received one year of probation which ended 4/5/2018. A second charge of A&B was dismissed on the day of her plea, on 4/5/2017. According to the court documents, the case is “closed.”]
Maria Frye, age 18, was also charged with Armed Robbery, along with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon… [UPDATE – According to court documents received from one of the defendants – RECEIVED 6/29/2018 – The charges against Maria Frye were eventually dismissed due to “Lack of Prosecution” ]
As you will hear in the following video, police are still looking for Carlos Cortez, age 19, the man who allegedly brandished a firearm during the robbery… [UPDATE – According to court documents received from one of the defendants – RECEIVED 6/29/2018 – The armed robbery charges against Carlos Cortez were eventually dismissed at the “request of the Commonwealth.”]

UPDATED NOTE – 6/27/2018 – Also, as with every case, charges are often dropped, dismissed, or modified during the court process… all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
