HOLIDAY ADVISORY: Foxes may be conspiring to commit crimes during Christmas rush…

HYANNIS – Two suspicious foxes stalked and kept a close eye on a patrolman who captured an escaped pit bull terrier last evening.
We’re not certain what this all means yet, but police were called to the area of Bristol Ave at about 8:30pm when an escaped pit bull was allegedly messing around with a man out walking his dog.
The caller thought the pit bull was being aggressive, other sources believe it was just being a typical playful terrier. Whether or not it planned to munch on the other dog remains uncertain…
The patrolman responded with his blue lights activated, unsure what he’d find after dispatch told him the man walking his dog believed the pit bull may be planning to bite.
According to sources, the pit bull was quickly taken into custody after he voluntarily jumped in the back seat of the patrol car without the need for additional force. The pit bull was said to be cooperative and very friendly with the cop the entire time. Backup units were not needed after all…
The man and his scruffy little white dog returned home unharmed.
A witness who lived in the area directed the patrolman back to the dog’s last known residence. That’s when things became strange…
I was parked in the shadows at an inconspicuous distance as the officer arrived to speak with the dog’s owner… that’s when I saw it!
A fox was also lurking in the shadows watching everything and everyone. What was it doing there? And why was it stalking the patrolman and his prisoner?
The patrolman had just gotten out to meet the dog’s owner when the fox suddenly abandoned its cover and crept in the direction of his squad car. It was being sneaky so I decided to ‘blow up its spot’ with my camera light in order to avoid a possible ambush (see top photo).
Was the fox attempting to help the dog escape for a second time? We’ll never know for certain; because, just as I lit up the fox, the patrolman also tried to hit it with the beam from his flashlight… and that’s when the fox scampered into a nearby yard before its intentions could be fully investigated.
According to sources, a second fox had also taken a position in a neighbor’s yard when the first fox was sneaking toward the cruiser. Could the second fox have been a lookout for the other?
Both foxes met up and left the area together “on foot” as a team.
No other foxes were spotted, but police have not officially ruled out that possibility.
The incident raises troubling questions and the BPD have yet to officially comment on the possibility of local foxes conspiring to help pets escape from their homes during the holiday chaos. It’s safe to say nobody knows the true nature behind last night’s sequence of events… Other than it did happen during the holidays, and it did involve sneaky foxes…
HN NOTE: The night before another suspicious fox was seen sneaking around a pet owner’s home in the area of Sea Street.
Stay tuned. HN will provide updates as they become available.

Photos: The above images are blurred because of the lack of light, coupled with the fox’s lightening-like sneaking skills…
In other news… and on a more serious note:

HYANNIS — Police and rescue responded to yet another overdose last night, this time at an upscale bayside home. A white male in his late 20s was able to walk out to an awaiting ambulance after being treated inside the home. First responders had a little difficulty trying to convince him to get into the ambulance. Three police cruisers followed the ambulance to CCH… The incident remains under investigation.
HN NOTE: This will be the last report on the Heroin Epidemic until after Christmas… (I’d much rather be covering the sneaky fox situation.)
