HIT & RUN: Barnstable Police investigating driver who allegedly crashed into utility pole and left the scene…
HYANNIS – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, Barnstable Police are investigating a driver who allegedly crashed into a utility pole and then left the scene.
At about 12:25 a.m. this morning, officers responded to the West End Rotary where a utility pole was found snapped in half, with the vehicle that struck it nowhere to be found.
Officers began searching for a red vehicle with front end damage, and possibly just one headlight…
About 15 minutes into the investigation, a police sergeant located the suspect vehicle behind a pizza parlor on West Main Street. The vehicle had recently been involved in crash, and an ambulance was called for the driver who appeared dazed.
The driver was transported to CCH. Officers also went to CCH to continue their investigation as to why the driver allegedly crashed and then left scene.

UPDATE: Matthew Valliere, age 35, of Centerville, was eventually charged with Second Offense OUI Liquor, Operating to Endanger, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident After Property Damage, according to a report in the Cape Cod Times…
