HN AUDIO: Police drone helps capture man who fled traffic stop, jumped head first into pond near mall… loaded gun found in glove box… [UPDATED]
HYANNIS – A police drone was used to help capture a man who had just fled a traffic stop and jumped head first into the pond near the Cape Cod Mall last evening.
A loaded gun was discovered in the glove box…
As you will hear in the following HN Video, at about 6:38PM, Barnstable Police squad cars converged on the area of the mall, setting up a tight perimeter around the location where suspect was last seen diving head first into the water.
The police drone, which can see thermal images, zeroed on the fleeing suspect…
The suspect was taken into custody and no further details, other than the following audio, was available at the time of this report.
UPDATE: Barnstable Police have identified the man who fled as Angel Robinson, age 24, of West Yarmouth (see above BPD booking photo).
According to Barnstable Police Detectives, the investigation into Robinson is still active and ongoing. An official press statement will likely be released later on, possibly later today.
