Initial HN report:
HYANNIS – At the time of this report, not much is known as to why several law enforcement agencies raided a home at 125 Lewis Road, located in a busy family neighborhood behind the Cumberland Farms on Barnstable Road.
At least one person was taken into custody at the time of the raid last evening… and that person was transported back to Yarmouth Police Headquarters.
The scene was secure when HN arrived, as some detectives gathered outside the home, speaking with a young woman… while a small child ran back and forth, playing in the yard… interacting with officers when he once ran toward their unmarked cruisers parked along the street.
There appears to have possibly been the execution of some type of search warrant, as detectives spent a significant amount of time inside the domicile, passing in and out on their own… and at will.
Down the street, HN spoke with neighbors and they did not seem the least bit surprised by the raid. One saying it was “about time.”
* Having said that, nobody knows exactly why police were there… and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
HN NOTE: HN spoke with sources on scene and reassured them it’s HN’s policy to take the extra time and effort to voluntarily obscure images of plainclothes personnel whenever possible, even when a particular agency is at odds, behaving in an illegal and hostile manner toward HN due to poor leadership and retaliatory practices.
***** Let’s hope some of our local police administrators commit to being the “good guys” again… as these are very scary and disturbing times in the Town of Barnstable (at least for myself and some others). And please keep all of our local police in your thoughts and prayers (it’s not easy work, especially under the current situation) – at the street level, our officers are the best of the best – but at the administrative level they need help; may our police administrators learn to obey our laws themselves, protect and serve EVERYONE, live up to higher standards, and do what’s right for the greater community. [More on that later. 🙁]
This is serious business and we cannot have bullies running our police department. *****
Also, since the case appears to be in the hands of the YPD, an agency which has demonstrated a consistent pattern of community policing practices and transparency, it’s likely HN will be able to update this story with official details as soon as possible.

“Whereas it appeareth that however certain forms of government are better calculated than others to protect individuals in the free exercise of their natural rights, and are at the same time themselves better guarded against degeneracy, yet experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms, those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny; and it is believed that the most effectual means of preventing this would be, to illuminate, as far as practicable, the minds of the people at large, ….whence it becomes expedient for promoting the publick happiness that those persons, whom nature hath endowed with genius and virtue, should be rendered by liberal education worthy to receive, and able to guard the sacred deposit of the rights and liberties of their fellow citizens, and that they should be called to that charge without regard to wealth, birth or accidental condition of circumstance.”
