HN PHOTOS: Driver arrested for OUI drugs after ramming into three parked vehicles on Main Street, Hyannis…
HYANNIS – A driver was arrested after ramming his Jeep into several parked vehicles in the area of 300 Main Street earlier this evening.
Owners of the damaged parked vehicles were having dinner inside nearby restaurants. One male was completely unaware of the accident and didn’t learn about it until he returned to find his vehicle missing a mirror, with additional damage running from the driver’s side rear panel toward the front fender.
Another male came out from a nearby dining room table to find the suspect vehicle had come to rest against his shiny Chevy sports car after obviously giving it a pretty hard hit.
Finally, a woman had been dining with a friend before returning to find her Honda CRV heavily damaged on the rear driver’s side. Her vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.
Police encountered the driver of the Jeep, who appeared disoriented, and had Hyannis Rescue stop by to evaluate him for possible injuries. The driver was apparently uninjured and did not need to be transported to the hospital.
Officers then continued their investigation into what possibly could have caused the young man to ram his Jeep into several parked cars.
The driver was eventually handcuffed and transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters. According to police sources, the driver was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Drugs.
The driver’s dog (said to possibly be unfriendly) remained inside the suspect vehicle until a Barnstable Animal Control Officer could arrive and safely take it into custody.
