OUTSIDE HYANNIS STOP & SHOP: “There’s a big giant coyote right in front of me!” [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – So, it was about 11:30 p.m. and my American Staffordshire, Arya (pronounced like “Mariah,” but without the M), and I were just pulling into a parking space outside the Hyannis Stop & Shop when the brazen wild canine suddenly came out of nowhere. I had been talking on the phone overseas (hands free, I should add…) when I could only manage to happily exclaim, “There’s a big giant coyote right in front of me!”
I say happily because filming urban wildlife is my passion, albeit I usually film the two-legged variety, but still, this fury fella was right up close and even doubled back a couple of times as I managed to level my broadcast cam with one hand, holding my enraged watchdog with the other…
… and I got the shot.
The person I was speaking with was calling from way over in the Philippines and I later asked if they had coyotes running around their supermarkets. In short, the Filipina seemed surprised and maybe a little confused by the question… and eventually said no, but in a way that maybe she thought I had started my end-of-shift drinking earlier than normal…
… but hey, did I tell ya I got the shot! 🙂
No coyotes or backseat watchdogs were harmed in the making of the following HN Video…
