DISPATCH: “Caller states a man with a gun making threats” … “entered the residence with a handgun by is side…” [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – Barnstable Police prowl cars raced toward 63 Pleasant Street this morning after a report of a man with a “gun at his side” entering the building and threatening residents.
At about 4:17 a.m., a patrolman indicated that the “item” was secured and that other responding units could slow down.
HN arrived on scene right as officers were taking an adult male into custody. The scene was still potentially volatile and HN did not use a camera top light for officer safety reasons. Therefore the footage in the following HN Video is dark and grainy at the beginning, but in one shot one can see an officer securing what appears to be a handgun, although that has not yet been officially confirmed.
The suspect was arrested on an active warrant and transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking.
HN briefly spoke with a BPD supervisor on scene and he confirmed that the suspect will be booked for the warrant and that it is still an ongoing investigation into whether or not the suspect is looking at additional charges… [DEVELOPING]
* All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law…
