HYANNIS – SUNDAY, 4/3/22 – As you will hear in the following HN audio clips, Barnstable Police squad cars rushed toward the Hyannis Golf Club on Route 132 Sunday afternoon to assist state troopers in capturing a man who had just fled from a car stop on Route 6, near Exit 68. The fleeing suspect was last believed to be running in the area of the 13th hole. Barnstable Police sources tell HN that at least one quick thinking patrolman commandeered a club golf cart and gave chase, finally capturing the suspect a considerable distance away from the club’s parking area. It was a volatile situation because sources tell HN that state troopers recovered a loaded firearm at the stop… another police source believes that state police had been in pursuit prior to the suspect fleeing on foot… no further details were available at the time of this report. The following HN Video highlights the Barnstable Police Department’s response… and the video also contains several other notable BPD call soundbites from Sunday.

On April 3, 2022 at approximately 11:12 A.M., the Mashpee Police Department responded to the area of 462 Old Barnstable Road, Mashpee MA, for the report of a person down on the ground with an unknown medical emergency. RANDOM HN SNAPSHOTS: Nothing special… just a peaceful early morning end-of-shift downtown Hyannis stroll with Arya, the HN news mutt. Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

Highschoolers gather outside the First Babtist Church of Hyannis on Main Street. Several students told HN they were waiting to take exams inside… I think they were from Sturgis… nice kids…

Strong morning sunshine casts long shadows on the Hyannis Village Green…

“Blue sky, blue sail…” A Town of Barnstable employee rigs up some type of sail to a pole erected at the corner of South Street and Ocean Street. (For in Hyannis we’ve always shown a great deal of pride in our erections…)

According to the truck’s window signage, some people are apparently a little miffed about some stuff… nobody was around to clarify…

“Ah, a good harbor for all seasons,” our final destination, perhaps someday… For my dear local friends of distinction and I – since we’ve been fortunate enough to have known this spot since our very first steps – have grown up on these docks and have been looking out from them ever since the 1960s… and our parents since much earlier in time; and some of whom are still living, still remember and tell all about this extraordinary Hyannis haven… and those departed Skippers, along with their chosen crew members, mates and dockhands will never be forgotten – God bless ’em all. The believer’s heart settles here and having travelled this globe – as one must do to appreciate anything of great value and quality – one realizes there is no finer place in the world. God likely isn’t ever making another harbor quite like it, and those who have worked and lived on these docks understand why. And while sitting here, as blessed as one could ever be, especially on these calm, special days, a time traveler’s heart is safely assured Hyannis will never die. This is a sacred place, consecrated by the blood of dreamers and childhood memories…
