Drunken douchebag theory still in play as officers investigate...

HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – An Uber driver witnessed a vehicle crash into “some sort of barrier” in a parking lot near the intersection of North Street and Barnstable Road last evening around 10:30 p.m., according to police radio transmissions. The Uber driver is then said to have witnessed 4 to 5 males, who appeared intoxicated, trying to figure out how to get the car unstuck.

The first officers on scene found a white Honda Accord crashed into a barricaded area and hung up on a pile of pavement segments, with one large pavement segment embedded in its grill. The vehicle’s airbags had apparently been deployed during impact.

There was no admitted driver on scene. There was, however, an unaccompanied male on scene who is presently believed to have been left behind by the others, the “4 to 5 males, who appeared intoxicated…”

At the time of this report, investigators were following leads and still trying to figure out what had actually caused the crash. It also remains uncertain why the driver allegedly fled the scene and has yet to come forward.

As mentioned, a witness reportedly told police the 4 to 5 males appeared intoxicated… and the crash scene did little to suggest otherwise. It’s uncertain whether the driver was, in fact, intoxicated but based on the current evidence and information, drunken douchebaggery has yet to be ruled out… and should the driver wish to come forward, HN would be more than happy to update the record with his version of events.

Also, it’s unknown if anyone was injured during the crash but the passenger side windshield was noticeably cracked…
