HN PHOTOS: “Gimme Shelter…”
HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – It was heavy snow, a smashed cellphone, a man saying he was just jumped, and some random moron hurling a rock through a shopper’s car window… all separate incidents…
… and in Hyannis, we call that a “slow night.”
In the above HN Photo, a Barnstable Police Sergeant conducted a quick pat-frisk before officers gave this man a much appreciated courtesy ride back to their front lobby to get out of the storm and warmed up early this morning, shortly before 1:00a.m.. The man told HN he was not from this area and that his girlfriend who lives nearby had smashed his cellphone during an argument. He was out in the cold without adequate clothing… and he had no way to contact his family for a ride home, over 20 miles away…
In the following HN Reader photo, a woman had parked her car outside of Trader Joe’s in Hyannis last evening, only to have some random male hurl a rock through her rear window. She gave police officers a description and they searched the area without any luck. HN was nearby when officers took the report… and a friend of the victim later sent in the following photo. It’s still uncertain what, if anything, may have triggered the rock thrower…

In the following HN Photo, a man called Barnstable Police reporting that he had been jumped in the East End of Main Street last evening, according to radio transmissions. Hyannis Rescue responded for an evaluation but the man said he was okay and declined medical attention. The BPD is investigating…
