*** WATCH *** Firefighters knock down fire at The Black Cat…
HYANNIS – Firefighters were able to knock down a fire to the rear of The Black Cat Tavern on Ocean Street this morning before it could extent into the kitchen.
The fire started just prior to 4:00 a.m. and firefighters were able to arrive on scene quickly.
As you will see in the following HN Video, HN and a Barnstable police officer were the first to arrive on scene. A fence to the rear of the kitchen was engulfed in flames.
Hyannis Firefighters quickly stretched a hose and made short work of the flames. Firefighters then continued to wet down the area and check for extension as a patrolman hustled off to bring back a restaurant staff member with a key to the main building.
According to Captain Mark Storie of the Hyannis Fire Department, the fire began on the exterior in a linen basket but did not extend into the building.
The following HN Video has a brief interview with Captain Storie and highlights a successful save that kept damage to minimum…
