HN PHOTOS: Woman strangled and choked on Hyannis Village Green…

HYANNIS – Police responded to the Hyannis Village Green early Thurday Morning – June 16, 2022 – for reports of a disturbance where a man was said to be spitting blood at others.

Upon arrival, Barnstable Police Officers encountered a young adult female who said she had just been choked. Officers observed bruising on her neck and that her voice sounded hoarse.

Hyannis FD Rescue responded and tried to convince the young woman to go with them to the emergency room. She was bruised up but politely declined because she had some place she had to be in several hours.

A Barnstable Police Sergeant immediately radioed for cruisers to be on the lookout for the suspect who had just fled on foot. He was described as a white male, wearing a black tank top. There was probable cause for his arrest for strangulation, according to radio traffic. Officers scoured the vicinity on foot and in cruisers but were not able to find their suspect… but they have a good idea who he is and what he looks like… and he is subject to arrest no matter how long it takes to find him.

The woman is homeless and had been sleeping under a tree on the Village Green. She told officers she is currently on a waiting list for a bed at the nearby homeless shelter.
