*** HN UPDATED REPORT *** Man later succumbed to serious life-threatening injuries after struck by vehicle in Hyannis… [HN VIDEO]
UPDATE: According to Lt. Mark Mellyn of the Barnstable Police Department, the victim in his crash later succumbed to his injuries. The victim is said to be a 61-year-old male by various sources… but police were unable to officially release his identity at the time of this report.

INITIAL HN REPORT:
HYANNIS – A man, described as being approximately 60-years-old, suffered serious life-threatening injuries after struck by a vehicle on Route 28 near the intersection with Walton Ave, sometime before 5pm this evening.
Traffic needed to be shut down in the area as accident reconstruction experts worked the scene.
It’s unclear if the male was walking or riding his bicycle at the time of the accident.
As you will see in the following HN Video, the bicycle was crushed and the passenger vehicle had a caved in windshield.
According to Captain Mark Storie of the Hyannis Fire Department, the patient was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries described as serious and life-threatening…
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
