HYANNIS – According to a Barnstable Police media statement, on Monday, April 18, 2022 at about 10:00 p.m., BPD officers responded to the area of Attucks Lane for gunshots heard in the area.

While en route, Barnstable Patrolman Botsford observed a vehicle driving towards him at a high rate of speed on Attucks Lane. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and two sawed off shotguns, along with ammunition and narcotics were seized.

According to investigators, 19-year-old Nolan Richard of Bourne and 20-year-old Ryan Parker of Canton, Ohio were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Sawed Off Shotgun, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Improper Storage of a Firearm, Discharge of a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Defaced Serial Number on a Firearm, Firearm Possession without a License to Carry, Drug Possession to Distribute Class C, Drug Possession to Distribute Class B, Drug Possession to Distribute Class E and Drug Possession to Distribute Class D.

“Upon further investigation by members of the Barnstable Police Department, working in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police, Harwich Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, it was discovered that both Parker and Nolan were conspiring to murder a Harwich resident regarding a past drug transaction. Officer Botsford’s quick response and the police follow up prevented a potential violent outcome,” the media statement continued.

Both Parker and Nolan were additionally charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder.

Both Parker and Nolan were arraigned in Barnstable District Court [Tuesday Afternoon] and are being held until a dangerousness hearing on Friday April 22, 2022.
