*** WATCH *** Male arrested after allegedly pulling knife during Hyannis parking lot fight…
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – [HN NOTES & MULLINGS ON THE MATTER] – Everyone has a job to do or a role to play out here at night. The streets of Hyannis and beyond, from P-Town to Plymouth are seeing an unprecedented rise in aberrant behaviors, according to radio traffic and HN observations. For example, lately it seems there are police pursuits, sometimes several, on any given evening. Not too long ago, a police pursuit in our region was a relatively rare occurrence. There also appears to be a rising level of disrespect toward people just trying to do their jobs, from public to private employees… Again, these are my general observations based on decades of experience and observations working the streets.
But the good news is that not everyone is acting up or acting out under the current adverse conditions, as was the case last evening. Let’s face it, nobody enjoys being “jammed up” during a traffic stop. But when you act like an idiot, especially when officers are bending over backwards to be polite and patient, it’s an embarrassment… and unnecessary… and unproductive… and ill-advised for a litany of good reasons.
As you will see in the following HN Video, there was some type of altercation reported outside of a Hyannis watering hole early this morning (which, by the way, is not a rare occurrence). And as you will hear, one of the involved parties alleged that someone pulled a knife on him. There was a subsequent traffic stop of a vehicle allegedly involved in the crime. The three occupants of the vehicle allegedly fit the description and officers began to investigate. As you will see, two of the occupants were cooperative and courteous with police officers who were treating them with an equal level of respect. The third occupant was anything but cooperative, and anything but respectful, in my view. But let’s move past that… my point is that two of the occupants who were also “jammed up” in this situation cooperated and were respectful to the officers who were being equally respectful. I like to see that. Even if the other two had been subject to arrest for some allegation (as it turns out, they weren’t), what good would it have done them to act like complete douchebags toward officers having the courtesy to show them respect in the course of their duty? Innocent or guilty of a crime, showing a little class and respect toward others just trying to do their job is FREE. It doesn’t cost a thing and can actually help one’s situation.
In short, don’t be an embarrassing douchebag toward people just trying to do their jobs during these difficult, unprecedented times…
… and try to stay away from Hyannis parking lot fights, if at all possible.
The following HN Video highlights this morning’s traffic stop that was drawn out much longer than necessary because of the uncalled-for douchebaggery of one of the involved parties. There’s no need for it… especially when the cops are being exceptionally respectful.
