*** WATCH *** MASSIVE RESPONSE TO FIGHTING AT HYANNIS APARTMENTS… OFFICER REPORTEDLY PUNCHED… THREE ADULT FEMALES IN CUSTODY…
HYANNIS – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video – and according to on scene police sources – Barnstable Police officers responded to the Cromwell Court Apartments late this afternoon for a female reporting that she had been attacked by another female. She also reported the other female was threatening to stab her. A fourteen year old juvenile was also reportedly attacked.
The situation reportedly escalated into what was described as a large fight with officers calling in additional units. A police officer told HN she was struck in the face. (I asked if she was okay and she said yes.)
At one point the situation appeared to be escalating further as more people approached the scene. That’s when Barnstable Officers requested mutual aid from the state police, as well as the Yarmouth Police. Things eventually calmed down as more officers were visible on scene just in case it didn’t…
A young father, obviously worried about his baby daughter, arrived on scene pleading for his child. His child was in the backseat of an SUV that officers were focusing on. In the end, the father took custody of his baby girl and apologized to officers for being so upset when he arrived. He was now obviously at peace, safely holding his child…
There were adult peace makers on scene who seemed to be helping police in getting everyone to calm down. One adult expressed sadness that young children from the family apartment complex were exposed to such volatility. (HN NOTE: A couple of parents politely reached out to HN on scene, worried that their young uninvolved children may have been inadvertently captured on video. I assured these parents I would do my best to edit out all children, but since it was a sprawling scene, some young people may have been captured in the distance… which is very typical of most scenes I cover. This was a complicated scene. Many people in the video are innocent bystanders or adult peace keepers… or parents worried about what was going on. These were young parents simply wishing for a safe place for their young loved ones to play in peace. My heart went out to these parents…)
In the end, three adult females were arrested on charges ranging from Assault & Battery to Disorderly Conduct.
One female was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that did not appear life-threatening…
* All suspects are presumed to be innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
The following HN Video highlights a volatile scene that officers deescalated by being visible in large numbers…
