*** WATCH *** MSP HELICOPTER CREW ASSISTS FALMOUTH COPS TAKE DOWN KNIFE WIELDING SUSPECT HIDING ON BOAT…
FALMOUTH – As you will see in the following video, a Massachusetts State Police helicopter crew assisted Falmouth Police officers locate and safely take an alleged knife wielding suspect into custody. The capture happened after dark and on the water!
[FPD MEDIA STATEMENT] – “On June 26, 2022 at 6:31pm, the Falmouth Police responded to Chapoquoit Beach for the report of a male party assaulting people. It was also reported that he had slashed a vehicles tires. The male fled on foot prior to the officer’s arrival.
A K-9 was dispatched to the scene, and the Massachusetts Air Wing also responded to assist. After a lengthy search, the subject was located by the State Police Helicopter hiding on a boat in West Falmouth Harbor. Offices were ferried out to the vessel and apprehended the suspect without incident.
He was identified as Augusto Darosa, 45, of Attleboro Ma. Darosa was arrested for a slew of offenses to include Assault w/ Dangerous Weapon/knife ( 2 counts), Assault and Battery (two counts) , Threat to Commit a Crime (two counts) , Intimidation of a Witness, Vandalize Property (two counts), Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, B&E Vehicle/Boat Nighttime for Felony.
The incident reportedly stemmed from Darosa being upset that he needed a sticker to park at the beach earlier in the day. He was reportedly very agitated and threatened the lot attendant before he left the area. He returned later in the day and slashed a vehicles tires, physically assaulted witnesses and threatened witnesses with a knife.
He was transported to the police station where he was booked and held without bail. He was transported to Falmouth District Court on Monday morning for arraignment.
