*** WATCH *** HYANNIS PORT “BURGLAR…” homeowner calls cops… security arrives first, “somewhat detains” suspect on second floor…
HYANNIS PORT – Shortly after 11:00 p.m. last evening, Barnstable Police squad cars raced toward an address on Hyannis Ave after the homeowner reported a “burglar” inside the house, according to police radio transmissions. A Hyannisport Security Officer arrived first and “somewhat detained” the suspect on the second floor of the home until officers could arrive. As you can see and hear in the following HN Video, the adult male suspect was taken into custody and was transported to back to BPD Headquarters, where he was expected to face charges related to Breaking & Entering, according to a police source on scene.
While being escorted away in handcuffs, the suspect mumbled something about it being his house. An officer quickly corrected him. “No, we are telling you this is NOT your house,” the patrolman can be heard saying as they moved toward the backseat of a police car.
The following HN Video contains footage of the scene and arrest. It also contains actual police radio communications between dispatchers and responding officers.
