HyTown hodgepodge: AM gunshots cause wild duck chase; PM rush hour keeps cops busy…
Top photo: Barnstable Patrolman Blondin and another plainclothes officer arrest a young man by the name of Brandon Mahoney for walking down Barnstable Road with an open bottle of booze earlier tonight. Mahoney became a suspect in a nearby shoplifting after possible stolen property was discovered in his possession. Mahoney was transported back to TJ Maxx where he was trespassed from the establishment for a period of one year. However, TJ Maxx did not charge the man and officers are investigating the possibility that some of the property may had been stolen from Macy’s… Mahoney was transported to BPD Headquarters for booking.

Above photo: At 6:30am, multiple Barnstable and Yarmouth squad cars searched the area between Pufferbellies and the town line for reports of numerous ongoing gun blasts. The shots could be heard as far away as the West End of Hyannis. After combing the area, a Barnstable Patrolman located a red pickup truck parked next to a wooded area across from CarQuest Auto Parts on Route 28.
Upon further investigation, officers noticed a camouflaged rifle case behind the driver’s seat. An army of cops converged on the area only to find everything was perfectly legal and explainable. Today was the first day of duck hunting season…

Above photo: Police and rescue responded to the East End Mini Food Mart – purveyors of scratch tickets, smokes, phone cards, beer, wine and snacks – after bystanders called regarding a woman who had just suddenly fell down. She was evaluated and was not transported to CCH.

Above photo: Police rushed to the Hyannis Seven-Eleven for an older man who claimed he had been assaulted by someone across the street at the Provo Brazil Steak House. Upon further investigation, officers learned the scuffle was the result of the older man refusing to pay his tab. Officers insisted the man pay for his drinks and peace was temporarily restored. (Later in the evening, police received reports that the intoxicated older man had chased a lady in the East End while she was on her way to work at Cape Cod Hospital… police were unable to find the man prior to writing this…)
But they did manage to find this fella:

Above photo: A patrolman had a sincere chat with another seemingly intoxicated older male. The man was approximately 70-years-old and officers related their concerns, ensuring he was safely on his way…
But immediately after officers had to deal with this drama:

Above photo: Several officers had to respond to Yarmouth Road for some type of disturbance involving a male and several local females. It was uncertain if alcohol was involved, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Police managed to restore peace and everyone happily went their separate ways.
Last but not least, I almost forgot there was another shoplifting from TJ Maxx earlier in the rush hour:

Above photo: Officer Peter Myrbeck helps a handcuffed man named Joshua with his earphones.
Joshua was followed by TJ Maxx security after they saw him place stolen property inside of his brown backpack and leave the store. Police caught up to Joshua in the parking area next to W.B. Mason on Route 28. Joshua was arrested and transported to BPD Headquarters for booking.
It was a very busy rush hour for police, and most of the above photos were taken in a relatively short period of time. (Also note that we’re coming up on a full moon…)
