In the unforgiving teens… [hn photos]
Top HN photo: A Sandwich FD ambulance arrives at the Cape Cod Hospital emergency room tunnel from a crash scene on the mid-Cape highway this morning. Time of HN photo – 1:29 a.m. The crash happened in the area of mile marker 61.5, eastbound, in Sandwich. A female driver involved in the rear-end type collision was transported for evaluation. The occupants of the second vehicle were evaluated on scene but not transported. Damage was described as moderate to heavy. The state police are investigating.
Barnstable Police Patrolman Thomas Corbett introduces himself to a man camping under the entranceway to an empty downtown Hyannis storefront. The man, a senior citizen in his 60s, and a life-long resident of Hyannis, became homeless when the residence he was living at caught fire in February of 2023. The man told Officer Corbett he was warm and dry enough… and that he didn’t mind sleeping on the hard sidewalk. (His attitude was very positive, but we were concerned nonetheless.) Also, when asked, he said he did not require medical services. Officer Corbett told him he would be checking back with him from time to time to see how he is doing. It was 15°F at the time of this photo – appx. 1:54 a.m. according to HN’s car thermometer and clock.
Barnstable police officers responded to a Hyannis apartment building for a disturbance around 2:00 a.m. this morning. An individual was evaluated by Hyannis Rescue but was not transported.
Barnstable police patrolmen did not appear amused when they were called back to the same apartments a second time a short while later for a report of people fighting. But things had finally settled down at the time of the above photo…
… and there had been no additional reports of nonsense as of the time this was published, at 5:30 a.m.
