KRISTY’S KORNER: Best Bartender Contest-Candidate Beezer/John Bearse, Trader Ed’s, Hyannis Marina
After meeting John Bearse or as most call him “Beezer”, I understand why he is the running for best bartender on Cape Cod. He greeted me with his warm smile, quickly made me a drink and graciously thanked me for the opportunity to sit down and chat. Bearse was comfortably wearing shorts and a t-shirt on a gorgeous spring night, making sure I was comfortable as the sun was setting on one of the best views of Hyannis Harbor. As we headed to our interview at a small table near the Trader Ed’s pool, we were joined for a quick time by owner John Shea. I asked Shea why he thought one of his bartenders was in the running for Best Bartender on the Cape and without hesitation, Shea told me it was because of the way Bearse treats people…ALL people. Shea said, Beezer genuinely cares for the people who choose to come into the bar and spend their money with us…I mean, anyone can get booze but they are choosing to come see Beezer because he treats all customers as friends! He makes the experience here at Trader Ed’s one that both vacationers and locals keep coming back time and time again.
Bearse’s name came up dozens and dozens of times since the contest was first announced and I got all kinds of feedback like, “He’s the best bartender on Cape Cod, possibly the world!” and “Choose Beezer because he makes me feel like smiling AND he serves great drinks!” Meeting him and sitting down though I got a different side of him then most people probably do when he is “on” doing the job most people love seeing him do. The first thing Bearse made perfectly clear was that he wanted the spotlight off of him and more on the work he does behind the scene with all of the charities that are near and dear to his heart. Life is precious and so are the awesome people who live here. People all struggle and its about helping others when they need help. One of Bearse’s favorite charities is September’s Rosco’s Ride, a motorcycle ride which raises money for local families that need financial help to pay bills in times of crisis. “It’s all about helping others…we are blessed to have it so good.”
For 17 years Bearse has been a staple at Trader Ed’s…stop in, say “hi!” and see why Beezer is in the running for Best Bartender on Cape Cod. Let me know what you think.
