MARSTONS MILLS – As you will see in the following HN Video, shortly before 8:30 p.m. last evening, Barnstable Police Officers and COMM Firefighters began making their way to a rollover crash in the area 381 Old Falmouth Road. The first patrolman on scene radioed that the male driver was fleeing the crash scene on foot. According to sources on scene, officers pursued the driver on foot, and there was struggle while taking him into custody. During the struggle, a female driver of a second vehicle (believed to be a friend of the fleeing male) reportedly stopped and physically interfered with officers attempting to handcuff the driver. The driver was placed into custody and transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, despite the heavy damage and severity of the impact. According to police sources on scene, the driver is facing criminal charges, which were expected to include leaving the scene, resisting arrest, and suspicion of operating a motor vehicle under the influence. The female who allegedly tried to stop officers from arresting the male, was arrested interfering.
