Missing man walked into BPD after setting his car on fire… [Video]
HYANNIS – A man who had been reported missing from off Cape showed up in the lobby of the Barnstable Police Department, telling them he had just set his car on fire.
At about 3:00PM, Hyannis Rescue responded to the front lobby of the BPD, to evaluate the man who had been missing, possibly suffering from Depression. At about the same time, patrol officers were searching an area about a mile away where the man said he had left his car burning.
Moments into the search, a patrolman located the smoldering vehicle abandoned in vacant sandlot off Kidd’s Hill Road in Barnstable. Barnstable Fire Department was called to wet down the smoking wreck.
Although Hyannis Rescue transported the man to CCH for evaluation and treatment, the man was not burned or injured as a result of setting his vehicle on fire, sources say.
The following footage highlights the unusual sequence of events. The footage begins with Hyannis Rescue helping the man while parked outside of Barnstable Police Headquarters. It then highlights Barnstable Firefighters and the scene at the sandlot…
