Narcotics Search Warrant, Church Street West Barnstable
Over the past several months the Barnstable Police have received numerous neighborhood complaints of suspicious activity and responded to numerous calls for service at 285 Church St. in West Barnstable. Calls for service include overdose incidents, larceny investigations, and drug sales. As a result, Patrol Officer Corey Frederickson initiated a narcotics investigation targeting Doralyn Rix, who resides at 285 Church St. Rix has been the target of several prior narcotics investigations led by the Barnstable Police, which led to numerous convictions. Rix has a lengthy and notorious criminal history.
The investigation determined that Rix’s residence on Church St. was being used to facilitate the distribution of cocaine and was frequented by known narcotics users. With the assistance of the Detective Division, undercover purchases of cocaine were conducted resulting in a search warrant being applied for and granted by Barnstable First District Court.
On October 4th 2016, investigators established surveillance of 285 Church St. in anticipation of executing the search warrant. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on a vehicle that was being operated by Doralyn Rix after it departed from 285 Church St. Portia Dayton, another resident of 285 Church St., was identified as a passenger during the motor vehicle stop. Rix was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and was escorted back to the address. Investigators searched the address and recovered approximately 17 individual baggies of suspected crack cocaine, 2 digital scales, approximately $1,900.00 in US Currency, and packaging materials used for the distribution of narcotics.
Rix was subsequently charged with Possession of a class B substance with intent to distribute (subsequent offense), and Operating after suspension of her license. Portia Dayton was charged with possession of a class B substance with intent to distribute.
Rix and Dayton were arraigned in Barnstable District Court.
