Anger after a family argument may have contributed to a driver crashing into a telephone pole…
CENTERVILLE – Police and firefighters responded to the intersection of Route 28 and Old Stage Road after a driver rammed his Ford Explorer into a telephone pole. The vehicle was totaled and the pole needed to be replaced. The driver was upset, but unharmed.
Prior to the accident there was reportedly some type of family argument. The driver was highly agitated and confrontational when first responders arrived on scene.
Police and firefighters had a difficult time speaking with the young man right from the start. He was lashing out and distraught about his damaged motor vehicle. Attempts to speak with the young man to help and inquire whether he was okay were met with angry outbursts.
HN was confronted for taking photos and had a difficult time reaching and speaking with the individual.
What started out as a routine traffic accident eventually escalated to the point where police needed to take the driver into custody for disorderly conduct. The young man’s mother also arrived on scene and she was calm and able to communicate with police.
The young driver was definitely not having a good day. But aside from being upset, he was safe and sound… which ultimately should be some consolation.

MASHPEE – Police and rescue rushed to a residence in a family neighborhood for a person in cardiac arrest after what was described as a gunshot to the head. When rescue arrived they reported the scene was a “police matter.” The victim was not transported to hospital and is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police were investigating and the scene was not taped off (as a typical firearm involved crime scene would be…) No other information is available at this time… and due to the suspected nature of the call, HN will not be releasing location or identifying information.
Less than a week ago, Mashpee patrol officers caught up to and prevented a young female from harming herself with a .357 revolver. One first responder explained the winter months are especially distressing for people suffering from depression. The cold weather, short days, and holiday stress can cause some to become more depressed than usual. On a very simple level, it’s important for those suffering from depression to realize the days are increasingly growing longer this time of year… there is hope… and circumstances always change, always.

Sandwich Police rushed to the scene of an attempted armed robbery at the Express Mart at 127 Route 6A.
A young female, approximately 5’3″, wearing a black “puffy” coat with a hood, reportedly brandished a “kitchen” type knife that had been kept in a sheath.
A K-9 unit from the Sheriff’s Department responded and hit the ground tracking to the rear of the convenience store toward the train tracks.
Investigators also secured video evidence from businesses in the area. A crime scene identification officer also searched for finger print evidence…
