Five patients, including young child, transported to CCH after 3 car collision in Osterville… [HN VIDEO]
OSTERVILLE – Five patients, including at least one young child, were transported to CCH after a 3 vehicle crash last evening.
At about 10:00 p.m., police and firefighters responded to Route 28 and Old East Osterville Road. The first patrolman on scene announced they were going to have to completely shut down Route 28 between Lumbert Mill Road and Osterville/West Barnstable Road.
An ambulance from Hyannis responded to assist, for a total of four on scene…
According to sources on scene, the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The following is the official media statement from Captain Richard Sargent of the COMM Fire Department:
COMM Fire was dispatched to a reported Motor vehicle crash with injuries and upon arrival of first due units found three vehicles with significant damage involved in a collision.
There were a total of 7 people involved, 4 in one SUV, 2 in 2nd car, and 1 in the 3rd car. None of the patients were trapped.
There was also a moderate fluid leak from one of the cars.
COMM units began treatment of the victims and additional ambulances were requested. A total of 4 ambulances responded, 3 from COMM and a Hyannis mutual aid ambulance, along with 1 command vehicle and 1 engine company.
Five patients were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Two people refused treatment. Barnstable police shut down Rt 28 in the area during treatment and reopened after completing their accident investigation.
