PEDESTRIAN, DOG BOTH DEAD FOLLOWING MASHPEE CAR STRIKE [UPDATED]
The following update from Chief Scott Carline of the Mashpee Police Department identifies the 92-year-old victim:
“The victim tragically killed in last week’s pedestrian accident on Jobs Fishing Road is identified as 92 year old Dorothy L. Ilott of Mashpee. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the victim’s family. The accident remains under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department as well as the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team and more information will be provided as it becomes available.”

MASHPEE, MASSACHUSETTS – According to a Mashpee Police Department media statement, on Friday – November 8, 2024 – at around 7:21 a.m., police and firefighters responded to Job’s Fishing Road for a report of a single car vs. pedestrian accident. Arriving officers found a pedestrian lying in the northbound travel lane of Job’s Fishing Road. The pedestrian suffered injuries described as “severe” and was transported to Falmouth Hospital.
A dog the pedestrian was walking died on scene, according to the statement.
The operator of the motor vehicle remained on scene, and a portion of Job’s Fishing Road was closed off while police continued to investigate.
On Saturday – November 9, 2024 – the Mashpee Police Department provided the following update:
“We regret to inform you that the [victim] of yesterday’s pedestrian crash on Job’s Fishing Road has passed away early this morning. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the victim and family. The crash investigation remains active and ongoing.”
Officials have not yet released the identity of the pedestrian… nor any details about the dog… but noted the case remains under investigation by Mashpee Police and members of the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Crash Reconstruction Team.
