*** WATCH *** Male transported with facial injuries after fight outside normally quiet West Dennis restaurant…
WEST DENNIS – A male suffered facial injuries during a fight in the parking lot of the Sand Bar restaurant located at 33 Lighthouse Road early this morning. One of the first Dennis Police Officers on scene immediately requested rescue and additional police units. According to radio transmissions, the police officer became even more concerned upon learning the bleeding patient was on blood thinners.
A Dennis FD ambulance arrived and reported being committed with the patient. The patient was transported to Cape Cod hospital shortly prior to HN arriving on scene.
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, officers had the situation well under control as HN arrived on scene. There was no active fighting by that time, but one restaurant staff member had trouble controlling his temper, yelling at people to “Get the [four letter word] out of here!” Police took notice and were on hand to ensure things did not flare up again… and to make sure there was not any more violence.
HN NOTE: This is the first time HN has ever responded to the Sand Bar in West Dennis. (And I remember becoming particularly concerned last evening about the male Sand Bar staff member yelling at people during a once volatile situation that had the potential of flaring up again…) HN initially responded upon also becoming very concerned about the injured patient on blood thinners, who apparently was also a heart valve patient. The strong response by Dennis Police Officers very likely helped defuse the situation and maintain order. And the quick response by the Dennis FD ambulance very likely prevented the patient’s condition from taking a turn for the worse… It’s uncertain what cause the violence and HN was unaware of any arrests at the time of this report. The current condition of the injured male is also uncertain. According to observations and sources on scene, the incident ended up being a typical fight in a bar parking lot at closing time. By the initial sound of the things, the outcome could have turned out much worse… but didn’t, thanks to first responders. Bottom line, there’s no need for violence and staff generated hostility. This was HN’s first visit to this particular bar and I sincerely hope it’s the last…
