SMASH & GRAB: Someone threw brick through store window… snatched cash from drawer… 17-year-old suspect arrested nearby… [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at about 1:36AM this morning, Barnstable Patrol cars responded to a glass break alarm at the Mini Food Mart on Main Street in the East End…
The first patrolman on scene reported a broken window. Someone had smashed the window near the cash register and somehow reached in and grabbed about $300 from the drawer.
Officers were able to see the suspect on store surveillance footage.
About 15 minutes into the investigation, officers encountered a 17-year-old male who matched the description walking nearby on Pleasant Street.
While speaking with the young man, officers found a wad of cash in the street, near to where the suspect was initially standing… the cash had not been there when officers initially encountered the suspect…
Based on evidence gathered at the scene, officers were able to arrest and charge the 17-year-old…
* All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law…
