South Yarmouth man charged with Felony Possession to Distribute Heroin…

PAC OFFICERS ARREST SOUTH YARMOUTH MAN FOR HEROIN AND COCAINE
On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at approximately 2:00PM, Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Officer Nick Ambrosini and his partner K9 Gauge observed a black Subaru, MA 7SW945 travelling at 45MPH in a 30MPH zone on Long Pond Drive.
PAC Officer Ambrosini conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the operator as Juan R. Ortiz.
During the stop Officer Ambrosini observed a small knotted clear plastic bag with a white powder in it sitting inside the door handle on the driver’s door believed to be cocaine.
Fellow Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Officer Sean Geary arrived as back up.
Ortiz admitted to the Officers that the bag contained cocaine and he was placed under arrest.
Drug Detection K9 Gauge was present at the stop and Ortiz advised the Officers that he had some heroin in a bottle on the front seat.
Officer Ambrosini located a Walgreens aspirin bottle and inside the bottle were 10 small clear knotted plastic bags containing a brown powder identified as heroin.
Mid Cape Collision arrived and towed the vehicle.
Yarmouth Police Drug Enforcement Detective Scott Lundegren arrived at the scene and conducted a follow-up investigation which involved the search of Ortiz’s apartment at 1308 Alewife Circle in Swan Pond Village in South Yarmouth
Inside the apartment, Police Officers found a small clear knotted plastic bag with brown powder inside Ortiz’s bedroom.
$201.00 in cash was seized from his wallet as proceeds derived from the sale of narcotics.
Ortiz was transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and has since been arraigned in the Barnstable District Court and is now out in the community awaiting trial.
Swan Pond Village Management has been advised of Ortiz’s arrest.
