STATIES: 36-year-old West Yarmouth male airlifted to Boston after crashing stolen dump truck on Rte 6…
[Official MSP Media Statement] At about 6 a.m. today a Trooper from the State Police-Yarmouth Barracks responded to a crash involving a 2005 Chevrolet C65 dump truck that went off the road on Route 6 westbound in Yarmouth. The vehicle came to rest below Route 6 in the area of the Massachusetts Coastal Railroad tracks. The driver, a 36-year-old man from West Yarmouth, suffered serious injuries and was transported by Yarmouth EMS to Barnstable Airport, where he was transported by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.
The truck, which is owned by a Yarmouth pool company, was reported stolen. Based on preliminary investigation, we anticipate seeking charges against the crash victim related to the theft of the vehicle and for traffic offenses. Until the victim is charged, we are not releasing his name. The truck was towed from the scene by Capeway Towing.
The scene was cleared shortly after 7:30 a.m.
