TWO HURT AFTER DRIVER FALLS ASLEEP, CAUSES CRASH, SLAMS INTO TREE, SOURCES REPORT… [HN PHOTOS]
HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN PHOTO NOTES] – Barnstable Police and Hyannis Firefighters responded to a crash involving three vehicles on Yarmouth Road around 3:00 p.m. today. According to sources, the driver of a white SUV traveling south on Yarmouth Road reportedly fell asleep before crossing over into oncoming traffic, causing two other vehicles to collide. The SUV then swerved back across the roadway before slamming into a tree. The white SUV was heavily damaged, and the adult male driver needed to be transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A second adult female from one of the vehicles that crashed in oncoming traffic was also transported to CCH with non-life-threatening injuries. A member of the sheriff’s crime scene unit responded to assist with crash scene photos. Yarmouth Road traffic was backed up and needed to be rerouted around the scene. The Barnstable Police Department is handling the investigating.
