*** WATCH *** BMW YANKED FROM WOODS ON RTE. 6 AFTER FLEEING FROM TROOPERS AT APPROXIMATELY 130 MPH [UPDATED]
UPDATE – 7/17/2025:
According to a Massachusetts State Police report filed in Barnstable District Court, Joseph Daniel Mackenzie-Betty, 18, of Barnstable, was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Failure to Stop for Police, Leaving the Scene of a crash with Property Damage, and Speeding. According to the report, Mackenzie-Betty was mirandized before admitting on body camera that he was the one operating the vehicle at the time of the pursuit.
INITIAL HN REPORT & VIDEO:
WEST BARNSTABLE, MASSACHUSETTS – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, just prior to midnight last evening – 7/15/2025 – a Massachusetts State Trooper announced over the radio that a vehicle was failing to stop for him on Route 6 westbound. According to a source, the fleeing BMW reached speeds of approximately 130 MPH prior to the trooper terminating the pursuit. Moments later, troopers found the BMW crashed into the woods at the Route 6, Exit 65 ramp. The driver fled the crash on foot. Barnstable Police patrol units quickly arrived on scene to assist troopers with setting up a perimeter and searching for the driver. K9 units from the Sheriff’s Department, Barnstable Police Department, and Massachusetts State Police arrived and began tracking the suspect. A Sheriff’s drone unit deployed above the crash scene and began searching the woods with infrared imaging. Well over an hour into the search, troopers arrested a suspect at an address on Main Street in Barnstable Village, approximately 4.5 miles from the crash scene.
