*** WATCH *** CREWS BATTLE STRUCTURE FIRE AT CAPE COD COLLISION
BARNSTABLE, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – At around 12:30 a.m. this morning, Firefighters responded to a structure fire inside several garage bays at Cape Cod Collision on Thornton Drive. Crews from surrounding towns arrived to assist. The flames were eventually knocked down. The State Fire Marshal was notified. A member of the sheriff’s crime scene unit responded for photos. The Barnstable Fire Department is investigating.

Structure Fire at 146 Thornton Drive, Cape Cod Collision
Barnstable, MA – At 12:35 AM the Barnstable Fire Department was dispatched by the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center to a reported Structure Fire at 146 Thornton Drive, Cape Cod Collison. A full department recall was initiated for all off duty Barnstable Fire members along with a line response from Hyannis, West Barnstable and Yarmouth Fire Departments.
While units were responding to the scene our dispatchers updated responding units that Barnstable Police Department (BPD) were on location reporting a fully involved fire in a single garage bay.
Car 212 (Captain Group 1) arrived on location finding a large commercial building with multiple garage spaces and confirming heavy fire. Car 212 immediately took command and requested a working fire assignment bringing additional resources to the scene from Centerville-Osterville-Marston Mills, Cotuit, Sandwich, and Yarmouth Fire Departments. Dennis, Brewster, Mashpee Fire Departments covered Barnstable Fire Department during the duration of the incident.
Crews were able to confirm there were no occupants in the building and had four hose lines in operation and access to all garage and storage bays. The fire was brought under control through an aggressive interior attack to ensure the fire did not spread to an adjoining building and adjacent structures. The smoke and fire caused damage to 4 garage bays in total. The fire was under control within 1 1/2 hours. No injuries were reported.
Massachusetts State Police Fire Investigators with the Mass. State Fire Marshals Office were requested to the scene to assist in determining a cause and the fire remains under investigation.
