YARMOUTH PORT – [DEVELOPING] – At about 9:50 p.m. last evening, multiple Yarmouth Police cruisers responded to an address on West Yarmouth Road after receiving a report that a truck had just crashed after driving across a front lawn.

As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, the first arriving officers discovered that the driver had fled the scene. Officers also soon learned that the driver left behind a small dog at the crash.

Police quickly tracked down the driver on Cottonwood Street after he was reportedly seen fleeing through someone’s back yard.

Yarmouth Rescue responded and began evaluating the driver for the possibility of minor injuries.

The small dog was shaken up by the crash, but did not appear to be injured… and was eventually taken home by a family member.

The driver was transported to Cape Cod Hospital. And at the time of this report, Yarmouth Police were investigating the cause of the crash and what may have caused the driver to flee the scene, leaving behind the little dog…
