UPDATE FROM DAVID PROCOPIO OF THE MASSACHUSETTS STATE POLICE – 6/19/22:
At 1:48 am a Trooper radioed that his cruiser had been struck from behind on Rt 6 east, one mile prior to 75, in Yarmouth. The cruiser was stationary in the breakdown lane at the time of the crash, and the Trooper was inside with his seatbelt secured.
EMS responded to the scene. Both the Trooper and the female driver of the other vehicle were transported to CCH for potential non-life threatening injuries.
The Trooper was treated and discharged. The female was held for observation. The crash investigation has determined she was operating under the influence. She will be summonsed to court to be charted with OUI.

INITIAL HN REPORT:
YARMOUTH – A Massachusetts State Trooper was struck by another vehicle on Route 6 early this morning. He was stopped in the breakdown lane and seated inside his cruiser while wearing a seat belt, according to radio transmissions.
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, the vehicle that struck his cruiser was heavily damaged, finally coming to stop facing the wrong direction about an eighth of a mile from the trooper’s cruiser, near the signage for Exit 75 eastbound. The force of the collision pushed the trooper’s cruiser from the breakdown lane partially onto the soft shoulder…
The female driving the vehicle which struck the trooper was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by Yarmouth FD. The trooper was also transported via ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening…
The Massachusetts State Police is actively investigating the cause of the crash. (Check back for updates…)
