Proactive-Anti Crime Unit Officers Capture Wanted Pennsylvania Fugitive
On Thursday, September 29, 2016, at 3:41PM Yarmouth Police Department Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Patrol Officer Nicholas Ambrosini observed a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee MA registration 559TL6 on RT28 in the area of Higgins Crowell Road in West Yarmouth operating with an excessively loud and defective muffler system.
A nationwide computerized check of the license plate indicated it was stolen.
Fellow Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Patrol Officer Christopher VanNess spotted the vehicle [turning into] a business parking lot and Officer VanNess ordered the male driver out of the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs
Additional computerized checks confirmed the vehicle was stolen and that the driver had a warrant for his arrest as well as a suspended Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
An inventory of the vehicle noted multiple corner cut baggies with white residue.
It was further learned that the driver had an extraditable warrant out of Pennsylvania for fleeing after being convicted on felony drug charges. The Dauphin County Criminal Investigation Unit was contacted and confirmed extradition.
Suspect was transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters, held overnight, and arraigned today in the Barnstable District Court.
