Arrested for drunk driving and leaving the scene… at 9:10am!
Hyannis – Shortly after 9:10am Barnstable Patrolman Puntonio stopped a silver Jeep on South Street just before the Saint Francis cross walks and school zone…
Reportedly the Jeep had left the scene of an accident with property damage… (no other details regarding the hit and run accident are available at this time…)
An elderly couple driving a white van, possibly witnesses, had also pulled over to speak with police…

An additional officer was called to the scene to assist while Officer Puntonio instructed the driver through field sobriety tests.

The driver attempted the tests…

Puntonio carefully observed the woman’s movements…
Based on evidence gathered during the traffic stop, the driver was placed into custody and transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters for processing.
According to Sergeant Kevin Tynan, Alena Carver, 45, of East Sandwich was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage.
Thankfully, no one was injured prior to the traffic stop…
