Hyannis – 4/2/13 – At approximately 5:30pm multiple squad cars rushed to the area of 163 Hinckley Road for what was described as a stabbing… at least two were taken into custody, one receiving charges regarding an assault & battery, possibly with a dangerous weapon… at least one other was placed in protective custody… Hyannis Rescue also responded… [Developing, stand by for updates…]
Update, still developing: As of 7:55pm, police reports were still being written as police try to sort out what occurred… it is uncertain if the incident which was called a stabbing at first actually will be charged that way… there were reportedly charges regarding an assault… and Sergeant Myett was unable to comment at this time regarding too many details… and it is still uncertain that a knife taken away from one of the suspects actually caused serious injuries…
As a side note, as police were dealing with the disturbance at 163 Hinckley, an unrelated fight broke out across the street… it was initially a very active scene for police during a time of day which is usually their busiest…
Update, still developing: As of 8:49pm, Captain Farrenkopf of the Hyannis Fire Department reports that rescue did respond to the call at 163 Hinckley… that they treated a person for what he explained must have been superficial wounds as nobody was actually transported to Hospital from the scene…
As of right now it appears that police and rescue responded to what they deemed a serious call involving a possible knife and at least two separate altercations… Hyannis News will provide updates regarding the charges and person(s) arrested as they become available…
Update, still developing: As of 9:53am on 4/3/13, Barnstable Police Shift Supervisor Sergeant John Alexander still did not have the authority to provide basic arrest information regarding this incident which led to two, possibly three citizens being taken into custody. (And to make things even tougher for Barnstable’s finest, there reportedly is a problem with the phone system which causes callers to be hung up on when talking with certain officers… between dangerous radio issues and now phone issues, sometimes things don’t always go smoothly over at police headquarters… Hyannis News will provide further information as this story develops…)
Updated 4/3/13 at 7pm… Charges (finally…): 22-year-old Dylan T. Pratt of 163 Hinckley Road in Hyannis was arrested and charged with Assault by means of Dangerous Weapon, for allegedly wielding a knife… Pratt was also charged with Assault and Battery by means of Dangerous Weapon, allegedly involving an assault and battery with a “rock.”
As an aside, the “unrelated” fight that simultaneously involved an intoxicated female being taken into “protective custody” happened across the street at 150 Hinckley Road.
Just another typical HyTown rush hour… thank God for the good cops out there giving it their all.
