Bar staff & cops help “CRIMESPREE” fan get her stuff back…
HYANNIS – Yes, the band’s name was “CRIMESPREE…”
(decidedly “apropos,” as the French would say…)
…and the young punk rockers brought their act from across yonder Canal, way up in Plymouth… (surely every Pilgrim’s Pride…)
And yes, there was at least one crime committed during their Village Green performance last evening…
…a felonious larceny to be more precise.
A young concert goer rocking-out in front of the bandstand turned and noticed someone rummaging through her purse. When confronted, the rummaging female suddenly did her best Usain Bolt.
The shoe-less larceny victim gave chase in an effort to recover her cell phone and wallet.
The pursuit continued through Main Street pedestrian traffic. Torino bar staff noticed the thief widening her lead and getting away. One brave bar staffer – likely shod, rested, and ready – sprung into action, joining the pursuit as the victim was falling further and further behind. Like an Olympic relay – HyTown style – where people get robbed for real…
(but I digress…)
As the story goes, the bar staffer metaphorically grabbed the torch in this sidewalk pursuit/relay (a common long-established HyTown sporting event) and was right on the alleged miscreant’s heels as she scampered into an alleyway next to the Gourmet Brunch.
The pursuit ended in an apartment doorway at 519 Main Street. Where once caught, the suspect reportedly offered to give everything back… quite possibly a last-ditch bid to pass the whole thing off as some kind of misunderstanding…
… but who really knows what in the ‘Wide World of Sports’ anyone thinks after being caught red-handed with stolen goods.
Kendra Corrigan, age 28, of Hyannis, was subsequently arrested and charged with Larceny From a Person, along with Felony “Larceny Over.”
The following video highlights bits from the “CRIMESPREE” concert/crime scene…
(It remains uncertain whether the negative publicity will damage the punk rockers’ image… but in all fairness, these nice upstanding young men had nothing to do with it… 😉 )
